22nd April 2008
Another lovely Spring morning for us all to enjoy as we wend our way diligently to share business with our fellow members at the Caterham chapter.
Apologies from James McLoughlin, Mark Thornhill subbed by Helen Tapley, and Mark Hynes subbed by Susie Rand
Education:
Patrick handed over the education slot to Morag Matthews who grimly made us very aware of the importance of having 1:1’s with other members in order for us to feel confident when passing referrals over. She shared a bad experience she’d had in a former chapter she belonged to where a referral ended up with her company losing a valued client. This was as a direct result of her not fully knowing the other chapter member nor how the business operated, it also transpired that the business appeared to be ‘dodgy’! A lesson for us all to learn from, thanks Morag.
60 Seconds:
As always, the 60 second slots were both interesting and amusing. Beginning with Liz Copeland who confessed that she was indeed not a morning person, impressing upon us all that she would prefer all consultations to be during the evening when she had managed to digest all the energy pills!
Warren Gilbert is doing fancy printing for ‘UNICEF’ or was that ‘UNISON’ , UNIBOND? Anyway, Warren is still printing lots of stuff for lots of people!
Graham Hathaway is now finding time to work in his garden and would be very happy to have referrals from people who are interested in remortgaging their property.
Kate Bellinger still wants to photograph all your pets…but not the reptiles, please.
Glen O’Dwyer has worked day and night making his customers happy, even earned himself a bunch of flowers as a token of one customers appreciation.
Frances Conn talked about the Inland Revenue being a ‘bunch of twisters’ as she expounded the fact that she was an expert with payrolls
Nic Howard told us all that he now knows for sure that money does not help someone have good taste after working on a recent garden project!
Andy Ward advised us to look out for flickering lights in people’s houses as this could indicate faulty wiring…if so refer them to him! Enough said
Reports:
Laura Downton reported that over the last year a total of 1207 referrals were passed, generating a value of £223,272 in business for our members!
10 Minutes:
Warren is proud of the fact that he has never missed a deadline! He showed a vast selection of printed paraphernalia; from leaflets, business cards and brochures to banners, posters and exhibition stands. He prints in black and white or full colour and he explained how colours are put on to build up the correct colour. Particular referrals he would like to have are with people from Local Government or Local Councils. An interesting and informative talk
Thought for the week:
If anyone would like a copy of the ‘epilogue’ on entrepreneurs kindly provided for this week, please see Matthew Baker!
And finally….
Scott is doing his epic 450+ mile bike ride from Biarritz to Barcelona for the Children's Trust in Tadworth [visit website] Scott would really appreciate the support and sponsorship to raise money for this worthy cause from his fellow BNI friends.
