8th April 2008

Another wonderful, crisp morning, and thankfully none of the sleet or snow to contend with!

Apologies from Joe Nathanail and Andrew Browne who was ably subbed by Helen Tapley

Education:
Patrick Cunningham told us about meeting an oil rigger named Phil Collins and telling him all about the merits of belonging to the BNI. He found talking face to face to be really beneficial and encouraged us all to make more efforts to have 1:1 meetings with fellow Chapter members. Knowing what someone really does and needs on a day to day basis is very rewarding. We are more able to help people we have grown to know well.

Thank you Patrick!

60 Seconds:
Another batch of interesting 60 second slots; beginning with Warren whose verbal flow was abruptly interrupted by his early morning sighting of  what looked to him like a slug under the table! Sue announced that she needs Guinea Pigs (not for a Peruvian dish on the menu) but for people to enjoy sampling canapés at half price. Graham Tapley talked topically about  sledges and Glen O’Dwyer handed the Star Speaker’s Award to James Mc Loughlin for his verses about the merits of booking holidays through his travel consultancy!

Reports:
Mark Hynes and Graham Hathaway have their memberships due for renewal on the 1st May

10 Minutes:
A fantastic 10 minute presentation from Laura Downton who tested all the members on how much they have been paying attention to her 60 second slots! She passed out ‘answers’ that had to be matched to her questions…the reward? Chocolate of course! Morag stated that she would be saving her Smarties for later on in her busy day and  Mark Hynes was almost eclipsed by the pile of Milky Ways he had managed to win!

It was an excellent way to remind everyone about all everything that Bidwells Estate Agents offer. Well done Laura

Thought for the week (provided by Liz Copeland):

‘Pithy Aphorism’

A pessimist is one who makes difficulties of his opportunities and an optimist is one who makes opportunities of his difficulties

Harry Truman

Have a lovely week
